Lord’s Taverners 2016 Film Launched

Since the start of the year, we have been working on producing a new charity film. The objective from the outset has been to provide more clarity on the charitable output of the Lord’s Taverners and highlighting the positive impact of our programmes on the young people who benefit from them.

In the company of a fantastic production team (How2Productions) we have visited several different schools and organisations to film sensory room presentations, catch up with minibus beneficiaries and capture some groundbreaking footage of young people who are benefitting from our cricket (and other sports) programmes.

Shown publicly for the first time last week at our President’s Lunch, our film for 2016 has a deliberately stark human-centric focus.

We sought to clearly convey how our charitable work positively impacts the lives of young people throughout the UK. Not only did we want to demonstrate a human-centric focus, we wanted to emphasise the inherently transformative impact sport and play can have. This is most evident in the words of Tom Humphreys who speaks at poignant moments in the film. Tom is a Table Cricket player from South Gloucestershire who tells us that, whilst he may not be able to play sports such as Cricket, Rugby and Football, it doesn’t have to be "doom and gloom” for  those from a disadvantaged background or with a disability.

The Lord’s Taverners exists to give young people such as Tom a sporting chance, and we believe our new film showcases this effectively using their voice.
