The 67th BFI London Film Festival has concluded, featuring an exhilarating and diverse programme celebrating global cinema. We are immensely proud to have seen numerous films showcasing the exceptional craft of our talented professionals. Here are our highlights:
"Bonus Track" is a heartfelt coming-of-age film directed by Julia Jackman at Erebus Pictures. The narrative, shaped by Josh O'Connor, follows George, a socially awkward music enthusiast, capturing his musical journey and the unexpected revelations intertwined with an enticing soundtrack of 2000s indie hits. The film was Production designed by Giorgia Lee Joseph, with Regina Meessen overseeing Hair and Make Up Design, and Haley Muraleedharan managing Intimacy Coordination.
"Grime Kids," directed by Abdou Cisse and Ian Aryeh, transports the audience to the summer of 2001 and revolves around Dane and his friends, driven by their ambition to form a crew and broadcast their music on the pirate station Rinse FM. Inspired by a book by DJ Target, this fictional drama authentically portrays the era and subculture on the verge of a revolutionary explosion. Phoebe Platman was Production Designer, while Galina Chakarova and Tom Henson Webb showcased their editing skills.
Film4 presented an enthralling showcase of shorts, including "Dope Fiend" and "Pyramid of Disunion," lensed by DOP Rik Burnell and DOP Tom Watts, respectively. "Mo <3 Lyra" boasted outstanding Hair and Make Up Design by Deanna V'lcevska. These captivating short film from disabled and neurodivergent filmmakers are scheduled for release in the UK later this year.

?In the "Stories We Tell" showcase, "Essex Girls," directed by Yero Timi-Biu, stood out, offering a sharp coming-of-age drama expertly edited by Galina Chakarova, with 1st AD Steven Olubenga Eniraiyetan contributing to its seamless production.
"Festival of Slaps," directed by Abdou Cissé, provided a humorous dissection of cultural stereotypes, featuring costume design by Rhona Ezuma.
"The Buckingham Murders," directed by Hansal Mehta and lensed by DOP Emma Dalesman, delved into themes of trauma, closure, and the immigrant experience. This atmospheric thriller, featuring a stunning performance by lead Kareena Kapoor Khan, held the audience captive with its compelling storyline and brilliant cinematography.
