Looking for a University to Help me Save Lives.
Can you imagine a free, solar-powered handheld device that can come up with a patient diagnosis and remedy in the hands of a Peace Corps worker trying to save lives in central Africa? For me, it’s easy, because after three long years and two spectacular failures, I was awarded a grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to develop an artificially intelligent, data-neutral decision engine that would come up with an accurate differential diagnosis. That was back in 2003.
My research (which I call Occam) was a remarkable success. Plain and simple, it worked, every time. Problem was that it required internet for server-based processing which renders it useless in many places in the world. Now it doesn’t thanks to some new computer languages that support onboard data and processing. Extend the data model after diagnosis and I get the remedy, which saves lives.
So, here’s the deal, I need university backing. I need a university that actually does what its mission says. I will literally GIVE you Occam and you can take full credit. I will crowdfund the estimated $100,000 to buy solar rechargers and handheld devices. I will oversee distribution of Occam into central Africa preloaded with languages like Swahili, Amharic and Yoruba to name a few. I will put your universities seal on Occam, so everyone knows it came out of your university. What do I want? You’re going to put my name on one of your PhD diplomas.
That’s right, you’re going to award me a PhD and I am going to give you Occam. If you CAN’T do that, have a great day. I get it, you have endless rules, accreditations to worry about, and precious rankings to consider. If you CAN, or at least willing to consider my offer, I’m Matt McCarthy at [email protected].
How can you help? Please, please spread this message like wildfire (share and ask your friends to share) in the hopes that it gets to a university that wants to save lives. Thank you.
