Looking through the fog

A classic example of mid-summer morning fog during the third week of August in Luxembourg. This is a result of plenty of evaporation from the surface following a late-afternoon rainfall on the previous day (August 18, 2020). Evaporation from the surface into the air raised the dew point until condensation occured. This is also simultaneously followed by the cooling of air to the dew point which leads to the formation of fog droplets. As the air temperature became the same as the dew point temperature, condensation occurred on tiny particles floating in the air. Large quantity of regional dew was also obvious which will keep on evaporating until the mid-day, a phenomenon often omitted in the global evaporation models.
