Engineers Without Borders Victoria Region recently held an Annual General Meeting at which many talented and passionate people took the opportunity to put their hand up for a leadership role. As the newly elected President of the Victoria Chapter, it is heartening to see the diversity of our new team members in terms of background and experience. This diversity underlines the fact that the Victoria Chapter continues to be driven by our members’ strengths and passion and, as always, is a combination of the energy and hard work from our many students, professionals and volunteers.
I am particularly indebted to the work of my predecessor, the immediate past president of the Victoria Chapter, Emily Cox. It is no better time than this to acknowledge her tireless efforts to guide the region to where it is today. As the Vice-President, I worked with Emily and learned many great lessons on how to listen and to inspire others. As she moves overseas to pursue an exciting new adventure, her impact will be greatly missed within the Victoria Region family. On behalf of Engineers Without Borders and the Victoria Chapter family I wish her every success in the next chapter overseas.
Finally, as we look to the future, there are many exciting opportunities to grow as a region. In particular, I look forward to continuing the work of my predecessor by listening to the many great ideas coming from the team and doing my very best to ensure they become reality. The Victoria Chapter is committed to Engineers Without Borders’ vision of redefining engineering in all our activities and ensuring this is done effectively in the constructive and supportive team environment for which Engineers Without Borders is famous.
