Looking for a step by step guide to move away from legacy to agile delivery?

A very basic and simple set of guidelines for teams looking for answers to questions like - "Where do I start if I have to adopt Agile ", "What should I be looking for?", "How do I show success " ...and many more...
DEFINE your Agile Transformation Goals --> Start with a discovery workshop
- Identify the tipping point OR the motivation behind the need for the shift from traditional legacy methods to Agile or SAFe
- Dont boil the ocean ! Start small, identify a pilot candidate
- Identify the MVP(where do you want to be at the end of the pilot)
- What are your CSF's ( critical success factors) ?
- Conduct a high level assessment of your architecture ( incase this transformation means moving the MVP to cloud )
- You may want to define tollgates ; make your journey agile !
- Last but not the least - ensure your Leaders are committed too
Onboard the "Pilot" Team - Align your teams on the end goal
- Make it a "fun" start with a kick off even of sorts
- Train the teams
- Realign the operating model and/or the org structure [give it the AGILE flavour with Cross functional teams, PO and the Scrum master]
- Define a basic Agile SDLC framework for the teams to follow
- Define the tools stack [Requirements Management, Project management, CI/CD tools etc.]
- Finally roll out the pilot execution plan
Execute Now
- Get an Agile coach or a SPC to drive the ceremonies and hand hold the Scrum Master and the PO
- Set up regular governance checkpoints
- Ensure your coach is on the ground with the teams continuously monitoring the pilot program
- Conduct reflections
- Incorporate changes into the subsequent stages
Show and Tell
- Encourage the teams to demonstrate the value delivered
- Get your Leaders to participate on these events
- Document next steps
Refine, Reflect and Iterate
- Identify the opportunities for the teams to improve
- Assess if the pilot was a success against your CSF's
- Streamline and optimise the process using Value Stream Analysis
- Repeat the cycle (if the originally defined. objectives are met)
Pause to Celebrate your WIN - if the pilot was a success ...and gear up for your next big thing

4 年Good one Mandira Anand. The propensity to fail fast was a good note to have ended this piece on.
