Looking to Stand Out? Here’s What’s Working on Social Media

Hello Friends,
As many of you know, I’ve been writing this little “intro letter” since 2021. What started as a simple way to introduce a topic in our bi-weekly eblast has evolved into a regular feature—one that I truly look forward to. While the Novella team collaborates on the content for each edition of The Note, this letter is my chance to connect directly with all of you. It’s a small but meaningful way to say “hi” with every issue.
I’ve had a lot of questions about how I decide what to write about, so I thought I’d take a moment to share my process. While I sometimes give a brief intro to that week’s topic, I often address questions or challenges that clients have been asking me. Whether it’s about the latest trends in marketing, branding hurdles, or obstacles businesses or nonprofits are facing, I aim to offer insights that can help you navigate your challenges. Often, the challenges I write about are driven by the stage your business is in, seasonal shifts, or broader economic trends.
This week, we’re diving into a topic that’s on everyone’s mind: how to cut through the social media clutter to achieve better brand visibility. It’s a question many businesses are grappling with as they look to build awareness and drive engagement in an increasingly crowded digital space. Plus, we’ve got some exciting design work to showcase for the Kansas City Chamber of Commerce.
I hope you find this edition as insightful as always—and if there’s ever anything you’d like to see me tackle in this letter or eblast, don’t hesitate to reach out!
Enjoy!
KC Chamber’s 137th Annual Dinner
For the 3rd year, we are a Partner Sponsor of the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce 138th Annual Dinner. As part of that sponsorship, we worked with the Chamber marketing team on the annual dinner theme, invitation suite and other design elements. This invitation came with the challenge of alluding to sports without being explicitly sports-themed. We wanted to convey the sense of community and excitement that comes with being a sports fan in KC. Inspiration was taken from sports collateral like Jumbotron graphics, team chants, and playbooks. The result is an invitation that feels exciting from the moment you open it, from the design to the physical movement of unfolding it for the first time.
