Looking To Save Money?
By Larry Hayes, Publisher/CEO of ActiveOver50 digital media
Ask for senior discounts!
Your year-round gift for saving money. Besides asking for discounts at restaurants and other places that typically grant them, ask EVERY business you deal with including airlines, hotels, resorts, doctors, dentists, contractors plus the big boys--AT&T, PG&E, Amazon and Macy's.
If the business doesn't offer senior discounts, you can always barter.
Recently, we needed an electrician to repair a kitchen outlet. His first quote: $550. After I asked for a senior discount, the price dropped to $450. I said I needed to check with my wife who was upstairs.
A shrewd bargainer, she suggested $325 which to our surprise was accepted.
Takeaway? If no senior discount is offered--barter! It doesn't hurt to ask.
