Using sustainable materials in our products is really important to Koh Living.
We want to leave a lighter footprint on the earth, but we also care about the people who help grow and make the materials we use.
That’s why we were determined to source and use organic cotton in our new Anna Blatman cotton zip bags.
You may wonder why you should care about organic cotton products – because it’s not something you are going to eat! But when we looked deeper into the farming and production of cotton we used in our products, we were concerned about what we found.
Right now it is top of mind to think about the impact on our planet, but we hadn’t considered the impact on people in cotton fields. The fact is, cotton farming is toxic and very harmful. Workers are exposed to residual amounts of pesticides, which can cause major health issues and life-threatening diseases.
In organic cotton farming, there are no toxic chemicals or GMOs (genetically modified organisms).
Instead, it’s a combination of tradition, innovation and science that promotes a good quality of life for all involved.
Organic cotton is produced and certified to organic agricultural standards and sustains the health of soils, ecosystems and people by using natural processes rather than artificial inputs.
