Looking at our digital future

Looking at our digital future

This week, our Credit Union System Digitization Working Group released its first industry outlook that examines current and expected digital trends in financial services. The working group is tasked with creating a roadmap that will help credit unions adapt to the changes in consumer expectations, demands, and behaviors. There’s a lot for them to tackle, so the group is divided into five workstreams to further explore the following areas:?

  • Analytics and intelligence
  • Employee roles and empowerment
  • Member relationships
  • Operations optimization
  • Product transformation

This holistic approach to digitization will ensure that credit unions and our system partners remain relevant to current and future members as the post-pandemic world becomes clearer.

Credit unions make a difference in the lives of our members every day, and this is our chance to flood social media with these amazing stories. In celebration of #ilovemycreditunion, LSC donated $25,000 to CMN Hospitals through Credit Unions for Kids! Thanks to the Illinois Credit Union League for championing this initiative.

360-degree advocacy

  • We wrote in objection to the Treasury’s broad, untargeted proposal to require financial institutions to report account activity to the IRS.?
  • We called on NCUA to return the Normal Operating Level to its historical 1.30% level as soon as possible.
  • We wrote in strong opposition to any expansion of the Durbin Amendment cap on interchange fees.
  • Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-Mo.) introduced a bill to replace the single-director structure at the CFPB with a bipartisan, multimember commission.
  • We wrote to the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee on how extending the credit union loan maturity limit would help student loan borrowers.
  • We wrote to the same committee twice this week for hearing records with concerns that an “all-in” 36% rate cap would make it more difficult for many consumers to obtain credit.
