Let’s assume in that post that you are already good in JS/ES6 and want to decide what next :-)

Despite the IT industry has it’s best time nowadays it is hard to find good front-end developer. Building nice looking page or application is not that hard anymore, due to many ready to use solutions. Requirements for what can you describe as a top level product are going higher and higher.

Sometimes sending resume with rich portfolio of projects is enough to get a dream job. But everybody has a period of time when he doesn’t own anything impressive to show yet. If you have little experience but you have a decent understanding of JavaScript you can consider applying for a developer position in company which uses React as their workflow. Especially because in some way React is a JavaScript library with low entry-level for new developers. It means that having only an average knowledge of web development you can make amazing things.

On the interview you can be asked with different questions to check your understanding of workflow based on using React. Besides knowledge about best practices, you should also be able to explain how the state of application is managed. Describe components lifecycles and tell what are the differences between them. How to send props in parent-child communication. React uses his unique JSX syntax, a JavaScript syntax extension that looks similar to XML, while using it isn’t necessary, it can be very helpful. The best way to get familiar with React before going to the interview is to make simple one page application, like for example todo app.

Making one will get you familiar not only with this excellent JavaScript library but also with all the environment build around it.
