Looking for a Job is a Full-Time Job

As a salesperson, I sometimes tire of hearing myself talk by the end of the day. I've shared some version of a pitch, the same stories, as well as stats, anecdotes and jokes over and over. But I love what I do. And I do it with enthusiasm because it's someone's first time hearing it and I want my passion to come through! Last week was no different.
Looking for the right job is indeed a full-time job. By Friday, I was exhausted but on a kind of networking high and feeling encouraged. I'd told my story and shared my vision with so many people. Most were extremely supportive - they offered advice, introduced me to contacts of theirs and shared my posts. While others wished me luck but communicated that I should have more realistic expectations and just get a job... For the record, I don't ever want to "just get a job."
Some people asked if I had any recommendations as to what THEY should be doing. (Maybe I should be in HR?) I think I even encouraged one industry friend to quit her job (Ok, so maybe I'm not destined to be in HR...)
After dozens of meetings, phone calls and Google hangouts, I have some really exciting things lined up for this week. Also important, I knocked some companies and openings off my target lists after speaking with recruiters and former employees of those companies. This can be hard to do when the opportunity seems so right, but will save you time and allow you to more efficiently and effectively hone in on what it is you really want.
My career is a big part of my life and who I am. I'm networking in a different way than I ever have before, because I want something different than I've had before.
I'm grateful for the time with my family this weekend and found a lot of inspiration reading and talking with people about Martin Luther King, Jr. today. But I am excited to see my inbox picking back up tonight. Each day brings me closer to my next opportunity and that makes me really happy.
Let's get this week started and make it a great one!
