Looking to the future of an ever-changing industry
The RES Forum
Leading the conversation on Global Mobility and the future of International Work
When we read the final GLOMO paper exploring the impact of the pandemic on our industry, we felt it was time to draw a line under the "Covid-19 changed Global Mobility," narrative.
It's not that we disagree. It's true, the pandemic has changed the world of international work forever. We've previously talked a great deal about how and why.
However, without ignoring everything we've learned along the way, we felt that it's time to consider what lies ahead for Global Mobility. After all, we can't change what's already happened, but we can control what we do about it.
With that in mind, we asked Francine Smith from IPM Global for her thoughts on the future of our industry.
As a boutique professional services firm providing services across the full spectrum of Global Mobility, IPM Global have a broad insight into the needs of mobility professionals, accumulated over more than 25 years.?
In her piece, Francine outlined the key challenges facing the industry, and spelled out some of the trends that will shape international work in the years to come. She also described the increasing importance of agility, innovation and resilience in successful mobility programmes.?
It's an insightful and coherent view of the future of GM and it's available on the RES Forum blog.
“I find one of the important attributes of the RES Forum is its involvement in academic studies and commentary on Global Mobility.”
These are the thoughts of a corporate executive with over 30 years’ experience of GM and international tax. A long-standing supporter of the RES Forum, we were privileged to share their insight in our commentary on the GLOMO research.
The piece offers a fascinating perspective on the effect of Covid-19 on global mobility, including changes to how and where we carry out our work, as well as shifting perceptions of the role of international assignments and how they will continue to change as the industry evolves.?

Both pieces are available in our companion piece to the GLOMO - Global Mobility of Employees research, available to download for free from the RES Forum website.
Thanks to everyone involved in the paper - it was a privilege to play such a pivotal role in this important research. Thanks also go to IPM Global , Harmony Relocation Network , Gallagher and Noah Mobility for your support with this piece.
