Looking Forward to What's Coming in April...

First, I would like to apologise for not producing a newsletter in February, but duty called, and I had a very busy first week here at Avanade. However, it is now time to have a quick look at what goes on in the world of Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations.

Version 10.0.39 is Out in April

Right now, I think we are all waiting for version 10.0.39 to come out in April and deliver new and enhanced features. You can read the full list of what has changed here (finance) and here (supply chain management), but here are my personal highlights...

New vendor invoice centre

There is a new vendor invoicing workspace coming to replace the existing Vendor invoice automation workspace. The new workspace promises exception handling powered by Copilot. Read more here.

PO Requester and PO Orderer Participants

Finally, the purchase order requester and purchase order orderer will be added to the workflow as participants so we can direct the invoice to either participant for review before sending it for approval.

Universal Tax Rate API

Currently only available in the US, this allows the tax calculation engine to call an external tax solution provider for tax determination. Vertex and Avalara are supported out-of-the-box. Read more here.

Data Archiving in Public Preview (again)

Also in the April release, the data archiving is released for public preview. Hopefully, this time it will receive good feedback so we can start archiving in a more standardised way.

Improved Netting

Recently, customer-vendor netting was added to the solution, and now it is being improved with process automation and the ability to import netting agreements from external sources.

Supply Chain Management

No highlights here for me, unfortunately, but a long list of incremental feature enhancements that improve the performance and usability of the solution.

Microsoft Copilot for Finance

And now for something new: Microsoft has released the Copilot for Finance in public preview. Currently, the solution is only released in the US Azure Regions, so no option to try it outside the US for now. At this point in time, the capabilities are limited to reconciliation in Excel and the ability to summarise customer information in Outlook.
