Looking forward to an interesting future

Nicole van den Crommenacker is a DAFfer through and through. Since graduating from the Technical University Eindhoven, she has worked passionately on the development of our trucks. She hasn’t even once considered leaving DAF because the opportunities here are endless. “You can find a lot of variation within these walls,” as Nicole puts it nicely herself.

Fifteen years ago

Fifteen years ago, Nicole joined DAF as a Performance Engineer at Engine Development. “At the time we were working on the development of Euro 6. Using simulations and tests, I looked for answers to questions like: which turbo delivers what kind of power?” In 2014 Nicole took her next step at DAF when she became Line Lead Engineer Turbocharger, a position in which she worked on everything from integration and validation to production; what is required to be able to start production with the desired reliability and functionality?

Four years later

Four years later, Nicole moved to the Vehicle Development department where she became Project Lead Engineer Chassis. A new environment in which she had no previous experience. “That wasn’t a problem, as my job mostly involved project supervision. Things like monitoring the planning and solving problems ad hoc when colleagues needed help.” In December 2021 she was offered the chance to take up her current position as Supervisor Steering and Suspension. In this role she works with her team on the flawless roadholding, refined steering and driving comfort for which DAFs are famous.

Interesting future

Nicole is looking forward to an interesting future. Hydrogen, electric, hybrid and the increasingly stringent demands being placed on diesel vehicles. “We will find answers to all of the questions they pose and I’m looking forward to the challenge. That’s why I work in development, after all!”
