Looking Forward: Collective impact reimagined

In the face of unprecedented challenges due to COVID-19, growing social and health disparities, and the ongoing climate crisis, science-driven biopharmaceutical companies like Pfizer have an opportunity and obligation to be part of the solutions.

That’s why in partnership with the nonprofit community, Pfizer colleagues are working every day to create breakthroughs of all kinds, which help solve some of society’s greatest challenges and make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.

Sometimes breakthroughs come in the form of new medicines or vaccines. But sometimes they come in the form of our people.

At the start of 2021, we launched Give Forward, our reimagined colleague community engagement initiative now encompassing all our volunteer and matching gifts programs in the US and Puerto Rico, as well global Disaster Match and skills-based volunteering, with the goal of living our Purpose beyond our regular workday.

Meant to further empower colleagues, Give Forward helps them drive positive change through new online resources, corporate matching, and volunteer rewards.

In the six months since our launch, I’ve been delighted to witness the overwhelming generosity of my colleagues, who have demonstrated that Give Forward is about more than just commitment—it is about creating lasting change. As part of Pfizer’s social impact, we want to make it possible for colleagues to give, in whatever way they can, whether giving time, money, expertise, or just their support.

?While we’re just getting started, I’m amazed to share that already in 2021, more than 4,600 colleagues have contributed:

• ?$5.78M+ in colleague donations together with The Pfizer Foundation* match
• 15,600+ volunteer hours
• Support to nearly 4,700+ causes in the US and around the world

A true reflection of the values underpinning our culture, our colleagues have shared how the program also brings them joy. As one colleague shared after a recent park cleaning volunteer event in New York, “You’ll probably never know how much today meant to me. Putting my hands in the dirt has soothed the soul... Thank you for lifting a weary soul today!”

?The pandemic has created indescribable loss for so many. I’m grateful to my colleagues who have leaned-in to experience the joy and power of collective action. Together with our non-profit partners, we want to empower others to do their part. We want not just to give back, but to Give Forward.
