Looking closely?

The end of November means something different to everyone. For you, it may mark the start of the holiday season, the final stretch to hit your goals for the year, or the perfect excuse to push all projects to 2024. For us, this time offers the opportunity to get up close and personal with the challenges and successes of our year, with the following in mind:

Challenges are opportunities in disguise.

Successes are motivation to propel us forward.

Recognising both helps to guide strategic planning.

This review process is key for our team to identify and set measurable goals that align with our company vision and values. By taking early initiative, we aim to hit the ground running in 2024, providing unparalleled staffing solutions across Canada, the U.S. and the UK. Here's to closing off 2023 strong and opening 2024 even stronger.

LOOKING BACK: ChatGPT tells us how it will impact the recruitment industry

As we approach the one year anniversary of ChatGPT, it's a perfect time to look back on its influence. Earlier this year, we asked ChatGPT itself to tell us how it will change the recruitment industry. Here’s what it had to say... how accurate was its answer?

MOVING FORWARD: Enhancing Recruitment and Client Engagement with AI and Automation

Effective communication is required for success, but it can also be a time-consuming task. For businesses targeting staffing candidates and clients, AI and Automation have proven to be a valuable tool. Here are some key takeaways from our experience.

Julie Robinson | LinkedIn

Co-Owner

Julie is not only the co-owner of RGC, she is also Mum to a very active almost 7 year old child and a beautifully needy 15 year old dog. As you can imagine, balance is a cornerstone of Julie's success.?

When Julie wandered into a UK recruitment agency looking for a job at age 19, it's fair to say she didn't expect to be running a successful international Rec2Rec agency 30 (ish) years later. Her recruitment career has spanned two recessions, three countries, and at least one moment of impulse when she moved to Canada before a signed offer was in place. Thankfully, that story works out, which Julie attributes slightly to good karma & predominantly to someone willing to take a chance on her.

There are many people in recruitment considering going out on their own. We'll save most tips & tricks for?your consulting services, but what is one piece?of advice you would share with someone?considering this big leap? "Do it. We all only live once - there's so much to gain, and little to lose. The earlier you do it the longer you'll have to make it successful. If it's not, you need to pivot, then you have time to regroup and your career will rebound."

As a leader, you have to wear many hats. What is your favourite part about leadership/ownership and what is one thing you consider challenging about the role? How do you manage that part? "My favourite part is making my own decisions about my own life. I love being accountable to myself and my team, and that's it. I have made wrong decisions during this time in my career, but that's totally A-OK. I have learned from them and moved on.?? ?

It can be a lonely place sometimes, however I often leverage relationships that I have built over the years for advice or opinion, but ultimately it's then up to me.

In a small business it's true that you have to do literally everything. I learned early on that outsourcing to others is WELL WORTH IT.?I am very conscious of where I spend my time and what will benefit our business. Wherever there is something that I am not good at, or will take me a lot longer than someone else; with less frustration, outsourcing is the way to go in my book!"

A large component of strategic planning is reviewing current processes and identifying opportunities for optimization. This includes recruitment systems such as Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Applicant Tracking (ATS). These two entities technically serve different functions. A CRM system helps create and maintain a pool of active and passive candidates. An ATS streamlines, records and organises each step of the application and hiring process. It is possible to use seperate ATS and CRM systems or opt for a fully integrated software. When making your decision, there are various factors to consider:

Scalability and Flexibility - Can it grow with you? Systems should be scalable to accommodate the growth of your staffing and recruitment operations. Ensure that the chosen CRM or ATS can handle an increased volume of data, users, and interactions without compromising performance. Additionally, flexibility is key, as the staffing industry often requires customization to adapt to unique workflows and evolving business needs.?

User-Friendly Interface - Will your team use it? Usability is paramount for successful adoption within your organization. A user-friendly interface simplifies training for recruiters and other staff members, reducing the learning curve and increasing overall productivity. Consider the intuitiveness of the program, the availability of training resources, and whether the system aligns with your team's workflow. A system that resonates with users and aligns with existing processes is more likely to be embraced by your team, leading to higher utilization and improved efficiency.?

Integration Capabilities - Does it work well with other tools?? Seamless integration with existing tools and platforms is crucial. In many cases, the solution is an integrated CRM/ATS software that also communicates with email, calendar applications, and any other essential tools used in daily operations. Integration capabilities enhance automation, reduce manual data entry, account for AI advancements and provide a holistic view of candidate and client interactions. A well-integrated system fosters a cohesive and streamlined recruitment process, which is better for your team, candidates and clients.

We aren't in tech sales, so no software specific pitch here. Just remember that not all systems are created equally, so take the time to find those that meet the current and future goals of your organization, at a price point you can live with.
