As creatives, we live in the unknown.??That's the beauty, the mystery, the excitement and the danger-??characters that pop out of nowhere, plot points that come from a long walk, and it is?our commitment to living constantly in unknown is what makes us great.
the challenge is that as a creative, our super skill is being in the unknown, and then when?we transition from creative to taking under the business side- there's a reality gap-? ?creating a successful business is also, going into the space of the unknown.
after three hours of writing, my mind craves something that is known.??I eat the same thing for lunch everyday, probably for this reason.??Part of me needs something that is known, so I can stomach every morning knowing I'm going back into that unknown.
Why I have been so motivated and driven to help my creative colleagues become business savvy- is that I know you are again stepping into the unknown when it comes to the business end, and?most of us need a bridge-?from the creative mind into the business mind, so we can make better choices on both sides.
It's been one of my skills I dialed into- the ability to speak the language of business to a creative, who wants to stay in a creative space, and doesn't want to have to handle all the business.
What I love about December, is that I start working out how I'm going to bridge my experience of the year, into a new healthier, smarter and bigger expression of who I am in business.
This is what's been in my journal these last weeks:
1.??What habits are stopping me from getting what I want?
2.??What behaviours are stopping me from getting to where I need to go?
3.??What am I willing to stop, to make more room for my own creativity?
4.? ?What's one thing that if I achieve it this year would get me really jazzed about showing up to the work?
It's that honest commitment to taking stock of what hasn't worked, and giving space for new pivots that can bring about new outcomes.
being committed to a life in the unknown, has meant to me becoming a master of how I spend my time, who I spend my time with, and how I stack my team.
Where most of us fail is in the transition, coming out of the creative uknown (where we must live) and into the reality of a day (where we must pay attention to at some point) and then back into the business- which is still a process of being in the unknown.
Because of the hardship of making transitions, I've worked on ways to alleviate that pain.
Here are the ethos that are starting my year:
1.??Leverage
2.??Value
3.??Curate

Tips to consider right now:
1.??Who do you have access to, right now
2.??What do you have access to, right now
3.??What can you cut out of your calendar that is wasting time, energy, feels like a drag, or hasn't netted the results you want?
4.? ?What transition can you give yourself to help move from creative unknown to business unknown, while keeping momentum?
Simple proactive step:
1.??Jot a few names of people you haven't connected with in awhile, send a text, to simply re-connect and wish them well.
Curating your Connection makes the bridge from creative to business more responsible, specific and joyful.
My goal for this year is being more responsible to myself, my time, and my network, by curating my time and the information I receive.
If you would like some more insights into how to move into 2025 with more time for yourself, more grace to your creative vision, and a path to streamline your business, join me in the Thrive 2025 Mastermind.??RSVP HERE.
There's a joy to be had inside of our creative vision, and the way to experience that is making a better bridge into the business that allows us to achieve that desire.
