Our Girls went off to the University
This October, we proudly celebrated a remarkable milestone: the graduation of 33 young women from the Lafiya Sarari program who are now university-bound! These incredible individuals began their journey as survivors of violent conflict in Northeast Nigeria. Seven years ago, they joined the Lafiya Sarari program, seeking refuge and an opportunity to rebuild. Today, they have emerged not only as high achievers but as beacons of hope and resilience for their communities.
Through education, life skills, and psychosocial support, these young women have transformed their futures, showing the world what’s possible when girls are empowered to rise above adversity. As they embark on their university journey, they carry with them the strength to inspire and uplift other girls who may face similar challenges. Their achievements remind us of the impact we can make together and the bright futures we can help create.

Celebrating Mental Health Awareness Month: Together for Wellness
October was a powerful month for us at Neem Foundation, as we joined hands with communities and colleagues to bring mental health to the forefront. We didn’t just talk about mental health; we lived it. Across all our operational sites, we organized wellness sessions tailored for our staff, acknowledging the importance of mental health support for those working on the front lines. We wrapped up the month with a vibrant, interactive webinar that saw over a hundred people tuning in live. The energy was incredible, and the shared commitment to fostering mental wellness left us all feeling motivated and hopeful for what’s next.
International Day of the Girl Child: Fueling Her Future, Together
On the International Day of the Girl Child, Neem Foundation celebrated the strength, resilience, and potential of every girl. We’re unwavering in our belief that every girl deserves a safe, nurturing environment to grow and thrive. Whether it’s through our mental health programs, educational initiatives, or advocacy for their rights, we’re building pathways for brighter futures. October was a reminder that, together, we can break down barriers and champion a future where every girl has the support she needs to succeed, even in the most challenging circumstances.
New Beginnings: Vocational Training for Survivors in Northern Nigeria

A special highlight of October was kicking off the second phase of our Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training, funded by the French Embassy in Nigeria. We welcomed an inspiring group of 100 women and girls who have overcome unimaginable challenges. They’re here to learn, grow, and build brighter futures for themselves—and for their communities. The first phase of this program saw incredible success, with many past beneficiaries starting their own businesses and becoming mentors to others. Now, with this new cohort, we’re excited to see how their journeys unfold and to witness their transformation firsthand.

Partnership with Global Survivors Fund: Supporting Young Survivors in Borno
In collaboration with the Global Survivors Fund Neem Foundation is thrilled to have enrolled children who are survivors of violence in Borno State into a specialized educational program. This initiative is designed not only to deliver quality education but also to provide essential mental health and psychosocial support to help them heal and thrive. By addressing both their educational and emotional needs, we’re fostering an environment where these children can regain a sense of stability, resilience, and hope for the future. Together, we’re building a brighter path forward for these young survivors.

Learning on the Go: From Classroom to Community
This October, Neem Foundation’s Learning on the Go program reached a major milestone, reintegrating 100 young learners—50 boys and 50 girls—into school. After completing basic literacy and numeracy courses, these students are now equipped with the tools they need to thrive in a classroom setting. The community came out in full force for the celebration, with parents, guardians, and local leaders cheering on the students. It was a day of pride, joy, and deep appreciation for the power of education. As one community leader said, “This is hope made real, and it’s only the beginning.”

Healing Circles with Common Threads: Expanding Support and Inclusion
Our partnership with Common Threads Project has brought transformative healing circles to communities in Borno, Nasarawa, and the FCT. A unique approach to this project is the introduction of men-specific circles. Mental health is a shared journey, and these groups are opening up new avenues for men to engage in healing in ways that feel safe and supportive. From one participant: “I never knew others shared my struggles. Being here gives me strength.” The response has been overwhelmingly positive, and we’re excited to expand this initiative in the months to come. Healing is happening here, one story at a time.
