Looking back at The Point.1888 in June.

Hello, LinkedIn Legends

We return with edition #11 of 'More to The Point' your monthly newsletter from The Point.1888. Summer is here and we fully appreciate the sunshine, at last. So grab yourself a cocktail/mocktail or a coffee, and read on.

In this month's edition, we share:

Let's get started!

Spin Master holds a star-studded Unicorn Academy launch event.

Becky Langer (and daughter) with Mary Lewis at the Unicorn Academy launch event.

Celebrities stepped into the magical world of Netflix ’s hit series Unicorn Academy with their little ones on Saturday. In attendance were EastEnders star Jacqueline Jossa, former Pussycat Doll Kimberley Wyatt, TV personality Vanessa Feltz and The Only Way Is Essex royalty Amy Childs.

The stars were spotted exploring the debut toy line and helping their kids make friendship bracelets. The little ones got to experience Unicorn Academy-themed makeovers as they channelled their favourite characters from the hit Netflix show, including sparkly manicures and rainbow ponytails. They also got a special screening of the show’s second season ahead of its launch on 27th June.

Taking imaginative play to the next level, alongside her daughter, Jacqueline Jossa was seen playing with the star of the range, Rainbow Light Up Wildstar. Making full use of Wildstar’s response to touch, they recreated the iconic moment from the show when Sophia and Wildstar ‘bond’.

Jacqueline, Kimberley, Vanessa and Amy were seen enjoying the celebration and creating wholesome memories with their little ones as they came together to celebrate magic, friendship and the extraordinary.

Licensing.Biz ’s Rachael Simpson-Jones was also in attendance, accompanied by her unicorn-obsessed godchildren. Both girls were over the moon with their goodie bags, which, among other gifts, included the Rainbow Light Up Wildstar, a perfect replica of main character Sophia’s trusty right-hand unicorn (and the toy they most desired from the display).

Fans of the show can soon enjoy?Spin Master's debut range of Unicorn Academy toys which will launch from 24th June and will be available to purchase at all major retailers. While the hero of the range is Rainbow Light Up Wildstar, the range also includes all the key characters so kids can choose their favourite Unicorn and Rider pair.

Team GB gets active with The Gruffalo.

Dame Laura Kenny at the Tokyo Olympics.

Magic Light Pictures has announced a collaboration with Team GB to create a multi-layered?Gruffalo?and Friends - Team GB?summer activation that includes a clothing and accessories line and themed activities for kids aged between three and eight years to get involved in an action-packed summer of sport.

Working with five-time Olympic track cycling champion and mum of two, Dame Laura Kenny, as the campaign ambassador, the activation – which focuses on different areas of fitness, wellbeing and friendship based around values including resilience, determination and inclusivity, shared by both the well-loved children’s characters and elite athletes – will run in-store, online and across media outlets via influencer and marketing activity.

A product range of children’s sporting apparel and accessories will be made exclusively available to Asda customers online from the end of June and in-store from the 17th July. The range of products includes t-shirts, shorts, bucket hats, backpacks, socks, clogs and pyjamas, combining the iconic Team GB brand with the illustrated characters based on the hugely popular books by writer Julia Donaldson and illustrator Axel Scheffler. The partnership coincides with the 25th Anniversary of The Gruffalo, but also features characters from Zog and the Flying Doctors, Superworm, Stick Man, The Smeds and The Smoos and The Snail and the Whale.

The activities will be circulated to schools via Scholastic Book Club’s newsletter, and will also be available to download from The Gruffalo and Friends x Team GB website for families and play groups to take part in.

Dame Laura Kenny will act as the official media ambassador for the campaign, to help inspire children and their families to prioritise building healthy habits for a healthy body and mind.

Alex Sanson, senior brand manager, Magic Light Pictures, said: “The Gruffalo and Friends have long brought a sense of exploration and fun to kids and families, and this new partnership with Team GB allows us to explore these stories and their themes in a new way. We want to give children the tools to understand their health and well-being from a young age, and inspire them to be confident team players, try their best and enjoy healthy habits that will last a lifetime.”

Amber Jeffries Keel, senior licensing and retail manager, Team GB, added: “Part of our mission is to inspire the next generation of athletes and to encourage us all to get active, and this collaboration is a great example of how this can be brought to life by some of the most-loved characters for children and their families.”
