Looking back, moving forward: 2024 in review

Inform your discussions and decisions this week.?As 2024 draws to a close, I am reflecting on the year’s Economist Impact programmes that have contributed meaningfully to the conversation on the world’s most pressing challenges.

It’s been a busy and exciting year to date. We worked with partners to publish over 40 original research projects spanning critical issues across sustainability, new globalisation and health.

We also launched three new Impact initiatives, each dedicated to driving progress on important global subjects. The Food Imperative assesses how we can create the food systems of tomorrow, Urban Futures identifies strategies to ensure our cities are economically, socially and environmentally resilient, and our latest launch— Progress 2030 —focuses on how technology is impacting how we work, live and thrive.

Our initiatives are designed to equip?decision-makers with the data and tools they need to develop sustainable, resilient and secure solutions. Together with our partners, we will map and unpack best-practice policies, untangle sector complexities and examine new approaches.

Our work together with you continues to resonate and it has never been more important. The following are the award-winning programmes from the past year. This external recognition is a testament to the global impact of our work.
