Looking Back to Look Ahead

10 years ago I launched promiseconsultinggroup.com. What started out focused on operational marketing quickly expanded to include strategy through my work with more than 30 clients.

In light of the current crisis, I've been taking a hard look at my business and what's important to me. Not just what I enjoy, but also, what my strengths are and where I can add the most value.

In talking to many startups and emerging businesses over the years, I've found that not only is support needed for marketing strategy and execution, but often business strategy as well. Sometimes, the model may be broken or missing altogether. There may be key functional components that need solving, with challenges that even a perfectly executed marketing strategy couldn't solve.

I've learned that it's not enough to just take stock of marketing efforts to plan for future growth. We need to look back as well at the underlying foundation of the business. Things like...

  • What is your business model?
  • What is your cost structure?
  • What is your breakeven point?
  • Who are your competitors?
  • What differentiates your business?

Now, more than ever, the status quo just doesn't cut it. We need to dig deeply into what we can offer to others – to make their lives easier or better in some small or even grand way. We are in a time that requires innovation and creativity. What you've done before may be enough, but maybe we can be better; maybe we can do more.

I am here, personally and professionally. If you need encouragement or a listening ear, I am here. If you're interested in a complimentary business consultation, request one here.

I truly believe that we will come out better on the other side. Changed, but grown; self-aware, but giving; worn, but grateful.
