Looking Back At 2024

Looking Back At 2024

As the sun sets on 2024, I find myself reflecting on a year brimming with transformative experiences and milestones. It has been a period of significant growth, professional breakthroughs, and moments of profound fulfillment.

At Nice Place Foundation, I had the privilege of overseeing the Leadership Academy, where we nurtured and empowered 195 young women through leadership training. Supporting 60 apprentices on their learning journeys was equally rewarding, as I witnessed their growth into confident, skilled individuals. One of the year’s highlights was coordinating a football tournament to commemorate the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence. Seeing the community come together to raise awareness while championing gender equality was a deeply inspiring experience.

I also founded Ren Facilitation Academy, an initiative born from my passion for structured and impactful engagements. Through the academy, I’ve had the opportunity to guide organizations and individuals in conducting effective meetings, strategy sessions, and tailored training programs. The feedback has been both humbling and motivating, underscoring the need for such capacity-building initiatives.

This year also marked my engagement with The Future Party, where I trained national delegates in Nakuru on the role of political parties in shaping democracy and development. The sessions explored the transformative potential of participatory governance, and I was honored to later join the party as a permanent member. Assigned the roles of overseeing strategy development and leading publicity efforts, I embraced the challenge of crafting a vision that aligns with the party’s goals of fostering inclusive growth and democracy.

A pivotal moment in 2024 was my participation in the Trevor Noah Foundation Education Changemaker Program at YALI RLC East Africa. Over a month of intensive training, I gained insights into leadership as a changemaker. Sessions like This is Africa, Foundations of Leadership, The 7 Habits, Design Thinking in Education, and Evidence-Based Policy Formulation challenged my perspectives and strengthened my resolve to lead impactful change in education.

Among the year’s defining experiences was conducting leadership and governance training for the Board Members of a Community-Based Organization (CBO). The sessions emphasized strategic vision, mission alignment, leadership qualities, and leveraging SWOT analysis for personal and organizational growth. Witnessing the members embrace these concepts to refine their leadership approaches was deeply gratifying.

As I look back on 2024, I see a year of purpose, collaboration, and impact. Each experience—whether guiding young leaders, shaping political strategy, or launching a new venture—has reinforced my belief in the power of leadership and community to drive meaningful change.

With 2025 on the horizon, I am ready to take on new challenges, build on this year’s foundations, and continue making strides toward a more equitable and empowered world. Here's to another year of growth, innovation, and leadership.
