Looking back at 2023 – a year of many achievements

Dear Xer Technologies community,

As we prepare for 2024, we would like to take a moment to reflect on our exciting flight path this year. It's been a dynamic and very productive year of establishing Xer Technologies in Switzerland, building our team, and fine-tuning our first product, the X8, all while establishing new partnerships and serving our clients. Let's recap the highlights of 2023 and look into what 2024 might hold!

Key Waypoints in 2023

2023 was the year we launched our mission-ready X8, a hybrid electric drone designed for the most demanding jobs. With the capability to carry a 3 kg payload for 2.5+ hours in challenging weather conditions, the X8 has caught immense interest from the industry and already established itself as a reliable asset.

The year was characterised by a strong dedication to testing and quality control of the drone, as well as verifying the platform's limitations so customers can fly safely and reliably. These dedicated activities paid off exceptionally well, and we are very excited to bring out some exciting news already in early 2024.

At the start of the year, we finalised the establishment of Xer Technologies AG as the company's new headquarters in Dietikon, Zurich, Switzerland. Being a part of the fast-growing and energetic Swiss Aerospace tech community is vital to our future growth ambitions.

First Client Projects

We have proudly performed flights with clients and potential clients on four continents during the year – the EU, the US, Asia and Australia. The X8 has been tested and verified performing in arctic conditions at -20 degrees C to desert conditions with 38-degree C heat. On home turf, we also had plenty of opportunities to fly on high altitudes up to 1700 metres above sea level and in windy and snowy conditions.

News and Collaborations

Earlier this year, we started an exciting collaboration, partnering with YellowScan , a global leader in LiDAR solutions, to certify the Yellowscan LiDAR as compatible with the Xer X8 UAV platform. This certification allows users to acquire high-resolution LiDAR data during extended flight operations, making cost-effective high-end BVLOS infrastructure inspections a reality.

In collaboration with Phase One , we achieved another significant milestone – integrating the state-of-the-art Phase One P3 payload with the Xer X8 platform, which enables high-resolution image acquisition during long-endurance autonomous flights.

Our collaboration with Coptrz , the UK's leading provider of commercial drones, has expanded our reach in the UK market, which seems impressed by the X8's flight capabilities and the ability to handle adverse weather conditions.

We also announced a collaboration with LINIA , integrating their automated flight route software with the Xer X8. This partnership enhances efficiency and productivity for drone-based inspection missions, especially for BVLOS and automated powerline inspections.

Tradeshows

Our participation in shows this year kicked of in May, when we visited the AUVSI Xponential in Denver, USA. The show was our first presence in the US market and gave great insights into the possibilities there.

In September, we enjoyed participating in DroneX 2023, Europe's largest UAV industry gathering in London, UK. Our CEO, Kristofer Skantze, spoke on "Taking Multicopters to the Next Level Using Hybrid-Electric Propulsion."

In October, we took our X8 to Intergeo in Berlin, the premier meeting for the geospatial community. This event allowed us to discuss the future of geoinformation, emphasising its importance in addressing global challenges like the climate crisis and urbanisation.

In November, we visited Milipol in Paris, a leading event for homeland security and safety with over 30,000 visitors, where we showcased the X8's capabilities within Public Safety, Search and Rescue, Surveillance and Border Control, De-mining and Disaster Relief.

Taking off into 2024

As we enter 2024, we're excited to continue pushing the boundaries of what's possible in the drone industry. Next year is already promising to be exciting, as we will expand sales in our key markets, directly and through distributors. We are also sharpening our focus on our key verticals: Powerline inspection, Offshore windmill inspection, Gas inspection and public safety.
