Looking Ahead to 2024: Our Five Areas of Focus

Looking Ahead to 2024: Our Five Areas of Focus

At Beam - we’ve done many things incredibly well in 2023, starting with cutting our spending and evolving our product to solve a much bigger problem - physician burnout due to time spent in the EHR. I couldn’t be more proud of our team for putting 120% of their energy during this time - without it, we wouldn’t be where we are today.?

In 2024, we aim to boost Beam's productivity and expand the distribution of our software to more healthcare providers. Reflecting on 2023, we identified five pillars that will make us an even more productive company in the coming year.?

  1. Concentrating on relationships - Most of our customers today are providers with whom we’ve built a strong rapport. We’ve earned their patronage by being available when needed, learning about their practice, and helping them finetune their workflow. Had we not had a great working relationship with our clinics, we wouldn’t have understood why providers get burned out and how to modify our product roadmap to solve our customers’ pain points. Relationships will be a critical focus that we continue to develop in 2024.?
  2. Managing Time Effectively - A big part of our success has been our growth with a small team. I’ve found that at several points in 2023, we could have used time more efficiently. When I started to take sales calls at the beginning of the year, I would have several “get to know you meetings” before getting to price. While I was able to build relationships with every prospect,? I also wasted much time on the wrong prospects. In 2024, I want to work on spending the right amount of time and creating better processes for managing my time with the right people.?
  3. Minimizing Pressure with Preparation - I’ve found success recently by allocating time to prepare for each meeting. Whether with a provider of a small health clinic or the legal team of an enterprise, I prepare slides and block a half hour before each call to give each prospect something to look at while we chat, encouraging a more collaborative, productive, and engaging conversation.?
  4. Doubling Down on Comms-? When I asked people why they chose Beam, many customers said it dealt with how available and accessible it was to engage with our team. I made communication a core focus for 2023, and in 2024, I want to double down. Since we launched The Beacon, our newsletter, early this year, we’ve seen an average 48% open rate, with 30% spending more than 2s reading the newsletter. I’ve invested heavily in content in 2023 and look forward to creating new opportunities to deliver high-quality content to the healthcare community in 2024.?
  5. Honoring Principles - At Beam, we hold ourselves to a high standard. In early 2023, we were approached by a large clinic. Through some diligence, we found this clinic’s senior leadership had a history of fraudulent activity. Inevitably, we decided to pass on this partnership to uphold our values of honesty. Looking back on this, it was the right decision and a test of our moral compass.?
