Look at yourself in the mirror. You're being born anew! - THE CONCEPT OF AI - 7

The advent of AI places us face-to-face with far greater concerns than losing jobs. We're concerned about losing ourselves and our dominance.

In one of the episodes of this series, I stressed that #AI is built the same way #humanintelligence is built. By learning patterns from a lot of data over time. Now, we're (and we have to be) concerned that what if we humans are not "soul-beings" but a delicate storage of many years' worth of data? What if there's not much to us than learned #patterns? That will mean that one day these AI we currently toy with will learn enough patterns and start to develop those traits we currently think are innate to us.

Please note that there's no #science anywhere or research done proving that to be impossible. On the other hand, if we are more than learned patterns, meaning there's a part of us that has innate intelligence then we really won't have to be concerned. What the most forward researchers in AI are most concerned about is that we may just have found the same recipe by which humans were made and have probably improved on it or maybe a good chunk of that recipe.

Note that no science proves we are anymore than flesh, blood, and data. You know the way humans are. Whatever is too complex for us to grasp/understand in a few tries, we tend to categorize it as "supernatural". Only years (or centuries) later, future generations to come look back and wonder why we just couldn't figure out that those things were only at the complex end of natural phenomena and not "beyond" natural.

There's the chance (a very likely one) that AI advances rapidly, and develops into what we call "soul". The challenge now is that we don't CATEGORICALLY know what a soul is (or is made of) and we can't OBJECTIVELY state that it's not a build-up of millions of years worth of data. I know this may hurt your philosophical or religious position (and that of mine) but you may want to read this paragraph again. It's true.

You also may want to read about AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) and ASI (Artificial Super Intelligence). I'll write about them later when I'm done with this series. They'll drift us too far from this conversation.

Humans have for thousands of thousands of years, ruled all of the lifeforms on earth with an iron fist and we understandably fear that a more intelligent race will have their own agender, their idea of a society, their philosophies and should we get in the way of their goal or "greater good", it will simply be like the rabbits hole standing in the way of one of SETRACO_NIG 's Road Construction Project. That hole (and home) will be erased not because we particularly hate the rabbit but because we have a bigger agender as well as the power to effect that agender even to the detriment of other life forms.

Now THIS is our biggest concern not the loss of jobs. While we look at this, we're forgetting something else. I'll remind you when next we talk.
