Jack Welch is often asked for one piece of advice about leadership. His answer is simple:

"Before you were a leader, it's all about you. After you become a leader, it's all about them."

Lou Holtz has a similar philosophy:

"Some guys walk into a room and say 'Look at Me!' A leader walks in and says 'Look at you!'"

One of the things I always like to tell the leaders in our organization is, "The day that you step into a leadership position, you officially forfeit your right to have a bad day." Leadership isn't about you, or your bad day. It's about those that you serve and their day.
