Since the first case of AIDS was reported in the US in June 1981, physicians, psychologists and researchers have worked to treat and eradicate AIDS from the global landscape. In honor of World AIDS Day, PracticeLink recognizes healthcare systems on our job board that support, treat or advocate for patients with HIV/AIDS.

Truman Health Services in Roswell, NM (part of UNM Medical Group, Inc.) is a NCQA Patient Centered Medical Home which provides the highest level of care and latest treatment options for New Mexicans living with HIV, requiring gender services or seeking PrEP.

Treatment services utilize a holistic approach toward supporting patients’ medical, social and mental health needs. Its Roswell Satellite outpatient clinic works in collaboration with Alianza of New Mexico for HIV Case Management Services, including evaluating and managing primary care for people with HIV and providing consultative care for HIV preventative services.

ChristianaCare, a nationally recognized leader in healthcare, has an established?HIV Community Program in Wilmington, DE. ChristianaCare’s William J. Holloway Community Program was established in 1989 to provide care for people with HIV/AIDS throughout the state of Delaware. Their interdisciplinary team includes three physicians, Medical Advanced Practice Professionals, a Psych APC, pharmacists and social workers.

Geisinger Community Medical Center (GCMC) in Scranton, PA focuses on high-quality, coordinated, patient-centered care for residents throughout Lackawanna County and northeastern Pennsylvania. GCMC has the only Level II trauma center and electronic intensive care unit in Lackawanna County, providing care for the most seriously ill and injured patients. Through the federally sponsored Ryan White Program, Geisinger provides resources and care for people living with HIV and their families. GCMC is recruiting an Infectious Disease physician, preferably with experience in preventive medicine and conditions associated with travel. This specialist diagnoses and treats AIDS patients and patients with fevers that have not been explained.

AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) is a Los Angeles-based global nonprofit organization providing HIV/AIDS treatment and advocacy to over two million patients in 47 countries. AHF in Atlanta, GA is committed to serving the city’s underserved patient population, including the LGBTQ community and individuals living with HIV/AIDS. They offer a network of services that include healthcare centers, pharmacies and wellness clinics. Legacy Community Health, in Houston, TX, is a premium, Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) providing comprehensive care to community members regardless of their ability to pay. Legacy has more than 50 clinics with extensive services that include: Adult primary care, HIV/AIDS care, pediatrics, OB/GYN and maternity, dental, vision and behavioral health. They are seeking an OB/GYN physician interested in providing medical care related to pregnancy or childbirth and diagnosing, treating and helping prevent diseases of women, particularly those affecting the reproductive system.
