A lot of people believe that asking for help makes you look weak, or, for men, that it somehow makes you less masculine. And to speak frankly – that’s rubbish.

There are a lot of people out there who think that, when the chips are down, they have to suffer in silence, and it’s that belief that’s led to suicide being one of the leading causes of death among men in the UK and Ireland. The statistics are devastating – especially when you think that just being able to talk to someone, without the fear of judgement, could have helped.

Tuesday September 10th, was World Suicide Prevention Day: every year, it aims to focus attention on the issue, reduce stigma and raises awareness among organisations, governments, and the public, giving a singular message that suicides are preventable.
