A Look Inside My Content Creation Toolbox

A Look Inside My Content Creation Toolbox

A well-stocked toolkit is the kind of inspiration you sometimes need to get that ball rolling.

If you’re looking for a little inspo for your own content marketing efforts, have a peek inside my own content creation toolbox.

Maybe your toolbox will look like mine, maybe you’ll take bits and pieces to bring into your own – either way, I hope this serves as a bit of motivation you can keep coming back to.

ClickUp

Without task management, the mind of a content marketer can get messy.

Juggling clients and all of those ideas you have for those clients is, to say the least, a lot.

For task management, I love what I can do with ClickUp.

I’ve tried all kinds of tools and task management programs and found that ClickUp is really the best of the best.

The interface and the ability to customize to what *I* need is beyond anything I've seen.?

If ClickUp is fresh to you, don’t let it intimidate you.

Let me introduce you to ProcessDrive. It is a community that helps you to use ClickUp effectively in business processes and workflows.?

If you’re trying to get organized with ClickUp, join ProcessDriven and you’ll be with other ClickUp and business minded folk.?

This community is by far, the best community I've ever joined.

Layla Pomper, Jen Orendorff and the entire team are engaged with the members. Like they actually are there and respond.

Their guidance isn't just ClickUp, it's also the decisions and workflows behind what you put in ClickUp.?

Go to the website or the YouTube channel to check out more. And let me know what you think. I'm such a fan girl of Layla. LOL

Copywriter

Without well written copy, your SEO means little.

Garbage copy doesn’t rank and copy that doesn’t rank isn’t going to sell.

Copywriters are what keep your audiences engaged, and that’s what keeps visitors clicking.

They give the SEO and the brand a human voice.

This is one space where I’d absolutely splurge for budget.

?Here are a few brilliant copywriters I recommend. I can also recommend the Convert With Content team.

Thruuu

Thruuu is one way I get my competition insight.

You can get a good look at the intent and headings of rankings on the first page of a search, all in one glance, so you can see what they have in common, what’s different, and what’s needed in the mix.

What I really like about Thruuu is that it’s quick and easy to use, analyzing themes and sub-topics effectively.

Incognito Mode

While Thruuu is excellent at compiling a bunch of information about the top relevant search results, that doesn’t mean I don’t want to browse around for myself.

Sometimes you just have to see the whole thing to get the full picture.

I like searching in incognito mode and then go into every one of those top result pages individually.

I want to see what they’re all about.

  • What do they all have in common?
  • What’s really different between them?
  • How about the information?
  • What’s going on with the layout?
  • What can I do to give the reader something extra that I’m not seeing in any of these other results?

Google Doc

I use Google Docs to create detailed briefs for content.

The more details you put into your brief, the less revisions you’re likely to have.

The content is going to match your vision.

I have an ungated copy of my brief for you that you can download here.

Text Optimizer

Text Optimizer is great for finding more words to add to a page in order to create context.

It takes a look at all of your top-ranking pages, then whips up a list of words used on those pages that you might want to include in your own content.

I’ve also used the findings from Text Optimizer to come up with new content section ideas or content ideas in general, so it really plays double-duty.

Shutterstock

Whether I’m working on a client project or something for myself, I might toss in some stock images.

Images do a great job at breaking up content so it’s more readable and digestible for audiences.

I ran across this article some time ago that really stuck with me. It's a great read for more info on how to include images.
