"Look at it, and be healed": Filmmaking with a purpose

I heard an interesting story yesterday, about Moses and the Israelites. When poisonous snakes broke into their camp, people were getting bitten, and were dying from the poison.
They prayed to God to take the snakes away – but instead, God told them to make a bronze statue of a snake, and put it up on a pole.
Why? “So that anyone who was bitten could look at it, and be healed.”
They created a sculpture of the thing that had bitten them. An artistic representation. An image.
They put it up on display, and looked at it. They saw it for what it was. And by doing so, they got healed.
Right now, I’m working on a short film called?Sparks May Fly. It’s basically about a whole lot of issues. It’s about relationships, miscommunication, and unrequited love. It’s about addiction, dependency, and being trapped in a self-destructive cycle. It’s about identity, shame, guilt, and feeling like you’re not good enough.
I never thought I would want to make a film about any of these subjects, yet the truth is, I’ve been bitten by all of them. Each of them has touched my own life with their particular poison, and like the Israelites, I’ve had to find healing from each one.

As I create this film and prepare to put it out there, as scary as that feels, I know the healing power that comes from it will be absolutely huge. Not just for me, but for every single person who has been bitten by one of these issues, who, just maybe, when they see the film, will be able to “look at it, and be healed”.
So, that’s why I’m really making?Sparks May Fly. It’s now on its way to the screen, and very soon you'll be able to see it on our website!
Your support means the world to us, and we’re so excited for the truly positive impact that this film will make!
May this image we’re creating together, like the bronze snake, be one that people will look at and be healed. ????
