This Week's Topic: A Look at the Future of School
Surely, if the global pandemic taught us one thing, is that many brick and mortar schools were underprepared for what should happen if people could not meet in person. There are deeper issues at hand with the underlying flaws of many schools which include bullying, time management (not all process on the same time schedule), and to teach a thirst for learning how to learn rather than memorization and testing focus. Let's take a step forward to the future of school - learn more in the infographic below, courtesy of Sora Schools

3 年Really like this - especially the focus on learning, unlearning, and relearning. This should be the focus of school instead of memorization. So many people get stuck not knowing how to re-learn and grow. Looks like Sora is changing that!

3 年I was chronically absent. It had a lot to do with taunting. I never skipped in eighth or tenth grade. There was less harassment then. I don't regret the time missed from school. I miss engaging with the good students. I don't think online learning would have helped me. Schoolwork seemed pointless and the prime directive of "Sit down and shut up" would make teachers far less needed. There is no permanent record and I do well in spite of fooling around in school.

3 年Brian Wallace I agree wholeheartedly with Alvin Toffler. "The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot, learn, unlearn, and relearn." Future educators will have to realize that students will need to learn in a?flexible, personalized format.

3 年This is fantastic. Thank you for sharing this with your followers. Sora is doing some great work and making a difference for these kids and I love how simple this infographic presents it. We need to continue to collectively raise awareness of this critical issue in our society that few realize as an issue (outside of the "cost" of college or funding of schools).

3 年A lot of great information here. Thank you for sharing Brian! I worked in the system many years ago and even saw some of this then. Now, having our own teens going through shows me just how much worse things have gotten. There are some really key points in this infographic. Dr. Ai Addyson-Zhang ?? Education Disruptor and Julia McCoy even wrote a book about this very topic. Skip the Degree, Save the Tuition.
