A Look Forward: What past events tell us about the future of trends for influencer marketing and content creation in 2022.
Making predictions based on past events in an ever-changing world and marketing field is quite a bold move to make, but fortune favors the brave so here we go again.?
We present you with 5 chosen events that happened last year that were so groundbreaking in terms of social media, e-commerce, and communities in general, it would be a mistake not to know about them!
1.?? Over a third of consumers (36%) believe social media creators have a greater influence on them if they show a social conscience or strong ethical stance.
There has been a lot of talk in the past few years about how important are social conscience and ethical stance to consumers when they decide to shop at certain brands. Whether that be political activism, human rights, animal rights, environmental issues, or smaller initiatives, the number of customers who care if the brands they support care as well seems to be getting bigger all the time. Is it a matter of life or death if your brand doesn’t stand for important issues? We are not so sure right now, but we did notice that customers tend to create stronger bonds with brands that do.
2.?? Instagram launches an initial test of algorithm-free reverse chronological feed options in-stream.
“Bring back the chronological feed!” seems to be said by everyone. Instagram finally listened and decided to introduce not only one feed option but three. Will that make their users use the app more or less, will it bring better engagement for brands and creators? We’re sure some will be extremely satisfied with their results, while others might struggle.
3.?? Twitter experiments with a new ‘flocks’ option for more enclosed Tweet sharing.

The importance of communities is very clear to Twitter who are trying to give their users an option to decide who they let into their most private thoughts. We see that as a very smart move and Twitter users seem to agree as they've been celebrating the new feature since the announcement.?
4.??LinkedIn set to rival Clubhouse with Audio Rooms.
Club House was the hottest social media app while everybody was quarantined, "unfortunately" other social media founders noticed that pretty quickly. First, it was Facebook’s Live Audio Rooms, then Twitter came in with Twitter Spaces, and now those two will be joined by Linkedin’s Audio Rooms. We think that Linkedin’s decision makes the most sense since a lot of creators are already using different communication channels to host webinars and meetings outside of LinkedIn.
5.?? 50% of millennials feel that creators they follow on social media know them better than their friends do.
This survey’s results were probably one of the most shocking facts for us. We understood the importance of online communities, but we didn’t imagine people feeling better connections to the people they follow than?their friends. It’s probably a fact that makes many people kind of sad and it indicates an immense cultural shift that will cause different changes in our everyday lives.
If you got to the end, congratulations! We hope this article gave you something to think about and sparked some fire in you. Now, let’s get back to work!
