Look for the Empowerers

Look for the helpers. That's classic, seemingly obvious, common sense advice.
It's not rocket science or brain surgery. And it's as relevant to each of our current day to day as when Mr. Rodgers heard this from his mom. In our personal lives, in our communities, families, businesses, and definitely in our financial lives. Sometimes it can be a hard balance to find; especially after the last few years, our guard is up, we all are wary of what other people's agenda truly are. We want to trust but just can't. I think one way to know who is truly helpful is the level of transparency and disclosure people come to situations with. Opportunities and people that are too good to be true usually are. Or, there's at least much more than meets the eye. But when you find people that genuinely go out of their way to support others, even if there's no gain to themselves; then you've got a keeper.
I would extend that to those that empower others. These days, we need to empower ourselves with knowledge and valuable information and the tools to succeed. When it comes to building, protecting, and passing along wealth for the next generation, this is a seemingly impossible hill to climb; full of jargon and gated information and products. So we have to look for the empowerers. You will always find people who are empowering. It may take some time, and you will make mistakes but the search and the final outcome will be worth it.
