People are awesome.
Last week marked our first of many People Magic Summits. The energy was incredible.
I'm grateful to everyone that joined including those that took time off work, stayed up late, and moved commitments just to be a part of the summit.
For those that weren't able to participate but are curious to catch the replays and join the other members already on their way to launching in January, you can join me and my team at peoplemagic.mn.co. Doors are open for free till Thursday, October 24th.
And if you wanted to attend live, start by marking your calendar for the next People Magic Summit happening January 21 - January 23. I'll share more about that later.
First, let's take a look back at Day 1 of the People Magic Summit.
We hosted Martinus E. , Roger Whitney , Ryder Carroll and Andrea Sullivan . Each session was packed with golden nuggets about how to have your best January ever so that you can have your best year ever.
Martinus Evans—You Can Start at 0 Members
Martinus shared his journey of founding the Slow AF Run Club, a community for runners who call themselves 'back of the pack'.
His membership began with just 20 members and grew organically through word-of-mouth and engagement. Despite early failures with online courses and business strategies, he found success by pivoting to focus on building a supportive community.
It was Martinus' community that helped set the stage for publishing his first book which went on to sell over 30,000 copies. Looking forward at 2025, he’s excited to mix virtual and in-person events.
Roger Whitney—What Can Your Community Look Like a Year from Now
Roger Whitney, founder of the Rock Retirement Club and host of the Retirement Answer Man podcast, shared his approach to building a thriving, engaged community for retirees.
He talked with us about the importance of starting small and focusing on a specific audience, ensuring that the community serves their needs without overwhelming them.
Focusing on finding people in a transition created the foundation for growth in Roger's community just like for Martinus.

A core principle of his community is empowering members to help each other, creating a more engaged and self-sustaining environment. Over the years, Roger has built a community that fosters trust, confidence, and long-term growth.
Ryder Carroll—Building a Business Without Losing Your Soul
Ryder Carroll, creator of the Bullet Journal Method and host of BuJo community, shared how his productivity system grew from a personal solution into a global movement.
He shared how important it is to get clear on your purpose while building a business and community, and discussed the need to align both personal and professional aspects to avoid burnout.
Ryder shared his journey of transitioning the Bullet Journal from a personal tool into a thriving community by fostering connection and learning within that space.
Andrea Sullivan—Build Community by Starting With Your People
Andrea Sullivan, CMO of VaynerX and President of vYve by Vayner, shared how she built a leadership acceleration community for entrepreneurs and C-suite leaders.
We focused on the importance of actively listening to members' evolving needs (we call this workshopping). She also shared practical tips on how to create a strong network and grow a community organically by starting with your own connections.
Want to catch the full replays, you can join the Countdown to January—30-Day Challenge now at peoplemagic.mn.co.
