What a week it’s been for the running community and Team GB! From stunning races across the UK to world-class performances at the Paris 2024 Olympics, there’s plenty to celebrate. Let’s take a moment to recap the highlights from last week’s RunThrough events and catch up on how our track and field athletes have been making history on the global stage.
August 3rd - Greenwich Park 5k, 10k and Juniors
We kicked off the week with a brilliant day of racing at the historic Greenwich Park. The atmosphere was electric, with families cheering on the juniors, and runners pushing themselves to the limit in both the 5k and 10k events. It was a day of personal bests, community spirit, and, of course, a lot of fun.

Also on August 3rd, adventure seekers flocked to Snowdonia for the RunThrough Trails Sea2Sky, presented by The North Face and SportsShoes.com . Participants tackled either the gruelling 25k or the epic 53k, taking in some of the most breathtaking scenery Wales has to offer. From sea views to mountain peaks, this race was all about testing endurance and enjoying the natural beauty of Snowdonia. Congratulations to everyone who took on this tough but incredibly rewarding challenge!

The festival atmosphere was in full swing, with music, supporters, and plenty of post-race celebrations.
August 4th - Running GP at Bedford Autodrome
The same day saw runners hit the track at Bedford Autodrome for the Running GP. Known for its smooth tarmac and looped course, this event offered participants the chance to test their speed and endurance in a race that’s all about performance. From the 5k to the marathon distance, athletes pushed themselves to the limit in pursuit of their goals.

August 4th - Southport Seaside 10k
Finally, we headed to the coast for the Southport Seaside 10k. This seaside race offered runners the chance to enjoy a flat and fast course along the beautiful promenade. With sea views and a refreshing breeze, it was the perfect setting for a summer 10k, and many runners took full advantage to set new personal bests.
Team GB’s Track and Field Success at Paris 2024
While we were busy racing across the UK, Team GB’s athletes were making waves in Paris at the 2024 Olympics. Day 10 of the Games was a particularly memorable one, with world records falling in four different sports. In athletics, Mondo Duplantis stole the show by setting a new world record in the men’s pole vault, showcasing his incredible talent on the biggest stage of all.
Team GB’s women’s team sprint track cycling squad also made history, breaking the world record and adding another gold to the nation’s tally. It was a day filled with excitement and pride as our athletes continued to excel across various disciplines.
Looking ahead to Day 11, the spotlight in athletics will be on the women’s 200m final. With some of the biggest names out of the competition, it’s a wide-open race. U.S. champion Gabby Thomas is the favourite, but Britain’s own Dina Asher-Smith is in the mix, alongside St. Lucia’s Julien Alfred, who recently claimed the 100m Olympic title. It promises to be an exhilarating race, and we’ll be cheering on our Britons as they chase Olympic glory.
Beyond the track, other key events include the men’s basketball quarter-finals, the men’s hockey semi-finals, and the first gold medal in boxing being awarded at Roland-Garros Stadium. With just a few days of competition left, every event is crucial, and we’re excited to see how the rest of the Games unfold.
