A TBT post showing the project that got me going with my work photographing architectural assignments.
Shown are before and after photos of the Perry Mill in Newport. Heavily damaged during the hurricane of 1938, the original roof was blown off and replaced with a flat roof. In 1984 or so, the Newport Collaborative Architects and Glenn Gardiner Architect, completed the redesign that we all know and love so well. This image was published in over 70 magazines and newspaper articles in 1985-86.
This began a 25+ year relationship with NCA and gave me the material I needed to approach other architects and general contractors and start building my business. And NCA went on to complete hundreds of historical restorations and re-designs that helped make Newport what it is now.
Check out the photos and take a wander over to my website that has been given a big facelift during the pandemic for other samples of my work. https://www.aaronusher.com
PS: to get this image, which was shot on the old style 4x5 inch sheet film camera, I had my tripod leaning over a parapet wall and to focus, I had to use both hands while standing on one leg leaning. Glenn held me by the belt loop to keep from dropping the 3-4 flights to the ground from the PO roof. Good times!

4 年Good work and nice flashback - thanks. But also a great reminder of the terrifically creative renovation design led by Glenn Gardiner when we see the before shot. Many thanks to you both - then and now!
