Is It A Long Way To The Top, If You Want To Find A Job When You're Over 40? (It doesn't have to be)

It doesn't have to be so hard to find your next job when you're over 40. It doesn't have to take so long.

But there are some critical differences in successful age 40, 50, and 60+ job searches, that aren't taught by most career coaches or outplacement advisors, not used by most professional resume writers.

That's because they weren't taught these strategies, so they aren't teaching it to others ... this is stuff that isn't included in career coaching and resume writing certification training.

Their training taught them to try to conceal age, by hiding critical information - It's based on false information, doesn't fool employers, but instead makes you look like you're hiding something (because you are). You can't establish trust with a hiring manager by hiding information or through deceit.

So instead of resume/interview/job search strategies that are just like the 20 year old's combined with concealing age by excluding information), there are ways you can really find your way to the top faster ... by portraying yourself as a more valuable candidate than younger competitors (who right now, are winning the jobs that should belong to you).

• Realize that employers expect more from an age 40+ candidate, because they expect to have to pay you more.
• If you don't prove that you're worth higher comp, you'll lose opportunities (often to younger, less experienced competitors ... that you could run circles around).
• Almost no age 40, 50 or 60+ job seekers have been taught to sell themselves effectively, so you look overpriced, and are told you're overqualified.
• Portraying yourself as qualified is too low of a goal - You need to show you have more of exactly what the hiring manager needs.
• A hiring manager's real current needs are almost never included in the job description, so relying on the job description makes you look like you don't have what they need.

Every age 40, 50, and 60+ job seeker has the ability to prove that you're a steal compared to other job seekers, but almost none know how. This is true for C-level, executive, management, and experienced staff positions, in every job function and every industry.
