Dear friends,
I know it’s been a while since my last newsletter, but I’m back! Allow me to reintroduce myself... I’m Amy Blankson, your go-to guru for everything digital wellness and happiness. When I’m not speaking to audiences around the world about happiness and technology, I’m spending time with my husband and our three daughters–and practicing what I preach on a daily basis (I know, it’s easier said than done!).
Every month, I’ll share actionable ideas and inspiration, focused on bringing joy to your day.
Finding joy in the hectic holiday season
'Tis the season of hustle and bustle once more! Each year, I find myself pondering the same question: How can I carve out space for the meaningful amidst the chaos? Yet every year I succumb to running the gauntlet of activities, checklist and to dos.
However, a new strategy is brewing for this year. Channeling my inner Marie Kondo, I've decided to apply the joy-and-energy litmus test before committing to any activity. Before saying yes to everything, I'll pause and ask, does this add to my joy or zap my energy?
Sure, there might be activities that do both, and FOMO might creep in, but let's be real—the heart of the season lies in the reflective pause, the joy shared with others, or acts of service that truly connect us to the world. So, what brings meaning to your holidays?
Stay tuned for more on this topic in 2024 as I unveil a new talk: a guide to transform moments of stress into a daily joy practice. Joy isn't just a byproduct of circumstances; it's a conscious choice. When we embrace this choice, our mindset shifts, opening up a world where we can prioritize our health, work, and joy without compromising ourselves. Join me on this journey as I share reflections, stories, and experiences from the road that inspire and encourage you in your pursuit of joy.
Feeling burned out at work?
You’re not alone. In fact, I recently spoke with a friend who’s an executive at a Fortune 100 who shared that her firm, and many other large employers, are losing employees due to burnout. And they can’t figure out why.
We decided to dig into this further. Our research revealed that the underlying reasons for burnout go beyond dissatisfaction in our work, and point to one increasingly prominent factor: our growing use of technology.?
In our post-COVID world, we feel an ever-stronger need to be in front of a screen 24/7, an addiction which impacts our health, overall satisfaction and our productivity at work.
In my newest column for Forbes, I dive deeper into the costs of compulsive screen time at work, and how leaders can embrace digital wellness on their teams.?
Where in the world has Amy been?
From Portland to Miami, Como to Toronto, I’ve been criss-crossing the globe to share inspiration and research. One of my favorite parts of keynotes is getting to hear what’s on the hearts and minds of individuals from different regions, industries, and backgrounds. I’m constantly picking up stories of challenges overcome, aha moments, and life wisdom–who knows? Maybe I can share your story someday! Here’s one of my favorite talks this past year that I gave to the Delta Air Lines Global Sales Team this past year.
