Long term relationships

I was chatting to someone the other day and he explained to me that whenever there is a new role that they are sourcing for in their company, they go out and find the best recruiter for them at that particular time, in that particular space.
So, I asked him why he did that, and he said he thought he could have a better deal every time around or maybe the recruiter that specializes in a particular skill set could be the best fit for that moment.
I have to disagree there, because I think a long-term relationship is the most beneficial to you as a company sourcing in your market. Your recruiter or your executive search agent has been working with you for a longer period of time, they’ll understand your company structure, they’ll understand your company culture, and they’ll understand exactly what you are looking for and what they need to deliver.
So, I think building a long-term relationship, even if the costs are a little bit higher, is definitely a good investment. Spend time with your recruiter or your executive search agent.
Tell them about your business plans.
Tell them about your expansion plans.
Tell them about your retention issues.
Tell them about your talent plans.
Because the more you involve your recruiter, the better they understand your company and the better they can serve you when you actually have a need. ??
So that is my advice for today.
