London Home Extension: 5 Ways to Make It Exciting
Nu Projects London Limited
We are a West London based high-end design&build construction company, specialising in turnkey solutions.
A home extension is a great way to add extra space and value to your property. There are endless opportunities when it comes to materials, doors, how to cover it, what lighting solutions to use.
We gathered some amazing inspirations for you!
Combine Materials
Break the status quo of exposed brick extension; if you are looking for a more exciting design, we recommend covering the extension with timber cladding or if you are looking for contrast, use dark zinc cladding. Maybe spice the traditional brick extension up with a fully glassed corner.
Skylights
Having enough natural light in the interior is always a struggle, especially when extending a property. Besides picking the right doors and windows, you can add extra light by adding orangey or skylights to the roof. It also provides ventilation during summer.
Orangeries or Conservatories
If you are looking for a more delicate-looking home extension, we recommend orangeries or conservatories.
The conservatory has a brick base with a glass structure pitched glazed roof. If you want a more heat-retaining solution, pick an orangery. Orangeries have a solid brick structure with large glazing and a flat roof with a glass lantern.
Glass Box Extensions
You have to be extra committed to keeping this one clean; glass box extensions are ultra-modern looking fully glazed extensions. If your property has enough space, installing a glass box extension won't be a problem.
Multi-Storey Extensions
Why stop at a single-story extension when you can go double or triple it? Expand your home to the rear side, then build upwards! You can combine materials on the exterior such as glazing, timber or zinc to make it more unique. Note that an extension over 4m requires planning permission.
