AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators) can be found in most public spaces such as supermarkets, shopping centres, train stations, airports or in the workplace, as was the case for Caroline. However, they are not always known as AEDs but are sometimes also referred to as Defibrillators or Defibs, for short. If you're looking for one in a public space, you might find it labelled PAD (Public Access Defibrillator). Don't worry that they're going to be complicated. They are rather easy to use. You don't need training, as most Defibrillators give exact instructions on what to do. Your only task is to correctly put the pads onto the chest and deliver the shock, which brings the heart of the cardiac arrest victim back to a normal rhythm. The device does almost everything for you, so you really can't do much wrong.
