Is London bound for the North Coast?

Is London bound for the North Coast?

Let me explain, I love the North Coast, and as some of you may know, you can find me there most weekends, walking on the most beautiful beaches with my dog, in one of the very reputable dining establishments or even in a public house watching the world go by. Equally you can find me in London visiting one of our many McCue sites from The Connaught to the Four Seasons but that’s business.

The recent announcement of plans for a new £30 million hotel overlooking the Royal Portrush Golf Course, with views of the stunning North Coast, and another £8m 103-bedroom hotel by Andras Hotels, has given me some food for thought.

It would seem that there has been a burst of hotel construction across Northern Ireland, particularly Belfast, from the Hastings Hotels Grand Central to the Titanic Hotel. So, it would seem that the tourism forecast or at least the hospitality sector in Northern Ireland is certainly sunny.

The hotels in Portrush are due to open prior to the prestigious Open Championship at the Royal Portrush Golf Club in 2019 and the pressure will be firmly on all of them to complete their projects in good time.

I believe that these new hotel developments are Northern Ireland’s opportunity to put the North Coast of Ireland and indeed, Northern Ireland firmly on the map.

It’s good to see Kilrea native, Gavin Boyd, is leading the £30m project for ARC based in Texas, and I’ve no doubt that this is a great chance to showcase the craftsmanship and attention to detail of many of our Northern Ireland based fit out companies that normally wander the globe.

Developers throughout the UK and beyond have already seen the potential of the standard of Northern Irish companies’ work, and have awarded them contracts of exclusive developments. I’m delighted to report we’ve been involved in the fit out of many prestigious hospitality venues in London.

There is no doubt that London is a global leading tourism destination but I look forward to seeing the changes not just on the North Coast but in Belfast as it all will hopefully help our beautiful, small country prosper!
