LoJack Assists Police in Uncovering a Stolen Vehicle Storage Operation in Waterbury, CT

On February 25, 2025, the Waterbury Police Department in Connecticut made a significant breakthrough in tracking stolen vehicles after both a 2018 Honda Civic Hatchback and a 2024 Honda CR-V, equipped with LoJack tracking systems, led authorities to a residential home in Waterbury.

The first vehicle, a 2018 Honda Civic Hatchback, had been reported stolen from New York City on May 28, 2024. It was fitted with the Original LoJack Tracking Device, which uses radio signals to communicate with a Police Tracking Computer installed in patrol vehicles. In contrast, the 2024 Honda CR-V, stolen just a day earlier on February 24, 2025, from Weehawken, New Jersey, featured the New LoJack GPS Tracking System. This system enables police to monitor the vehicle’s movements through a web-based app on their phones or computers.

Both LoJack systems led Waterbury officers to a home in the city, where they discovered not only the two stolen Hondas but also two additional vehicles stolen from New Jersey, hidden in the backyard of the residence. The location appeared to be a storage site for stolen vehicles. Two residents of the home were arrested in connection with the stolen vehicles. Authorities continue to investigate the operation, and further arrests are expected as the case develops.

This operation highlights how law enforcement’s growing use of LoJack’s advanced vehicle tracking technology is playing a crucial role in cracking down on car theft rings.
