LoJack Assists the Colorado Metropolitan Auto Theft Task Force with Recovery of a Lexus RC350

The owner of a 2015 Lexus RC350, valued at $24,150, reported it stolen. The theft was reported to the Aurora Police Department, and the Lexus was entered as stolen in the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database. The owner also contacted the LoJack stolen vehicle recovery call center to report the theft. Subsequently, the LoJack SVR call center entered the Lexus into the LoJack LE application.

Officers with the Colorado Auto Theft Prevention Authority Metropolitan Auto Theft Task Force (CMATT) initiated live tracking of the stolen Lexus. Covert surveillance was established, revealing that the Lexus was occupied and mobile. The vehicle was observed driving recklessly, making it unsafe and difficult for officers to maintain visual contact.

To avoid a high-speed pursuit, the CMATT detectives utilized the LoJack LE app to continue their surveillance. Eventually, they noted that the Lexus came to a stop. As the detectives approached the area, they saw a subject exit the vehicle and jump into another car. The second vehicle then fled the scene recklessly, making it impossible to apprehend the offender.

The Lexus was recovered, processed for evidence, and will be returned to its owner. The LoJack GPS system was pre-installed by Foundation Kia of Wheat Ridge, Colorado.
