LoJack Aids in Recovery of Four Stolen Vehicles, Resulting in Four Arrests

In the early hours of May 2, 2024, a Concord, CA dealership fell victim to a group of thieves who managed to obtain keys for multiple vehicles on the lot. Among the stolen vehicles were a 2024 Subaru Ascend, a 2023 Mercedes-Benz CLA, a 2022 Toyota 4-Runner, a 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLB, and a 2021 BMW. The thefts were reported to the Concord Police Department, and all vehicles were entered as stolen in the National Crime Information Computer (NCIC).?

Fortunately, four out of the five stolen vehicles were equipped with the LoJack GPS system. The dealership owner contacted the LoJack 24-hour stolen vehicle hotline for recovery assistance. The case was escalated to a LoJack law enforcement liaison, who verified the stolen status of each vehicle and added them to LoJack LE, a platform integrated with law enforcement.?

With the help of LoJack LE, all four vehicles were traced to the Antioch, CA area. Two vehicles were stationary, while the other two were in motion within the City of Antioch.?

Detectives from the Northern Foreign Export and Recovery Team (NoFEAR), along with the Antioch police department, were notified of the multiple vehicle theft. Utilizing LoJack LE, detectives and officers could monitor the real-time locations of the vehicles and formulate an action plan.?

The recovery operation began with the retrieval of the Toyota 4-Runner parked outside an apartment complex. Surveillance led to the arrest of a suspect as she entered the vehicle. Meanwhile, officers from the Antioch PD apprehended the Subaru's driver at a nearby convenience store. The Mercedes-Benz GLB was located in close proximity to the Subaru, and officers successfully arrested the two occupants, recovering the third vehicle. Lastly, detectives recovered the Mercedes-Benz CLA parked outside a residence in Antioch. Though surveillance was conducted, no suspect returned to the vehicle.?

Unfortunately, the BMW, lacking a LoJack system, remains outstanding, and the investigation is ongoing.?

By leveraging LoJack’s GPS tracking system, law enforcement officers were able to pinpoint the locations of the stolen vehicles with precision. This crucial information allowed them to coordinate their efforts effectively, leading to the quick recovery of four stolen vehicles, with a combined value of over $170,000, and the subsequent arrest of the suspects involved in the theft.?
