Logical vs Emotional

A number of years ago we decided to upgrade my wife’s car. She had recently started driving her son to a school that was over an hour away. I didn’t want her to be facing the worst that winter had to offer in the car she had at the time which was quite small with minimal safety features.?
Being me, I was pushing hard for her to get a Subaru Impreza. Four-wheel drive so great in the snow, low centre of gravity so very solid on the road and packed with safety features. It was absolutely the logical choice for a long drive on a tough winter day.?
My ever-patient wife was less than enthused but bowed to my reasoning and we went to a Subaru dealership check book in hand to purchase the car. Their salesperson, however, was quite obnoxious which really put us off and we ended up walking out without making a purchase.
The next day we went to a Mini dealership. For years, my wife had a picture of a red Mini posted on her office bulletin board and it was her dream to eventually own one. Within twenty minutes of completing the test drive we had signed for the car which we still own today. Even now, she smiles every time that she gets into that car.?
It is not a winter driving machine like the Impreza but, it has all the safety features and bottom line, makes her happy every time that she drives it.
We sometimes focus on doing the logical to the exclusion of all things emotional. That story for me is a reminder that sometimes, the best decisions that we can make consider not only the logical factors, but the emotional ones as well.???

3 年Agreed Marc. Emotions create connection :) I'd almost want to bet that most men choose a car based on emotional rather than logical reactions.
