In this first edition of May, Logging-on brings an innovative new skidder from Tigercat. This smaller 602 skidder will initially serve as a swing-boom skidder, but the range of applications will increase over time to include single and double drum cable skidding. Researchers are starting to place their focus on steep slope cable-assist machines. We bring new research that has examined the traction and stability of feller-bunchers on these steep slopes. Logging-on also brings two new loaders to our readers. Firstly, Komatsu have produced a new excavator log loader than can also shovel log. Secondly, Bell Equipment have made a multitude of improvements to their popular three-wheeled loader. Finally, we examine a new App from Cummins that considerably reduces the time taken to diagnose and repair their engines.
