In this first issue of March, Logging-on brings information of new products and technical information for machine management purposes. We start with Keto who have produced a large processing head for demanding logging conditions associated with big timber. Komatsu Forest has now started producing a factory fitted optional cable assist winch for some of their harvester and forwarder models. They have taken a different approach to some other manufactures by choosing to use a capstan winch. Morbark has produced a new multi-application horizontal grinder, the 3400XT. We are given technical advice by Logset on best practice for sharpening harvester or processing head delimbing knives. Finally, we examine the future of trucking technology with Volvo, who provide more information on their first hybrid vehicle designed for long haul applications.
