On Veterans Day, United Way of Greater Niagara pauses to honor the brave men and women who have served in the armed forces. Their dedication and sacrifices inspire our community’s commitment to serve those who have given so much. Today, we stand united in gratitude and respect for our heroes, pledging to uphold the values they fought to protect and to support them in return. Women United of Greater Niagara’s Personal Hygiene Drive is an initiative to support individuals in need throughout the Niagara community by collecting essential hygiene items. The drive focuses on gathering personal care products, including soap, shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, feminine hygiene products, and other basics that can be hard for people experiencing financial hardship to afford. This drive helps address hygiene insecurity, which is an often-overlooked need, especially for those without access to government assistance programs that typically do not cover personal hygiene items. Once collected, the items are distributed to local shelters, food pantries, and social service organizations. This allows Women United to not only raise awareness about hygiene insecurity but also to directly improve the well-being and dignity of individuals facing economic challenges in the Greater Niagara region. United Way of Greater Niagara partnered with Starpoint Middle School for the “??????????? ?????? ???????????” initiative, giving students in each homeroom one week to raise funds for youth programs across Niagara and Northern Erie County. The homeroom in each grade level that raised the most money was rewarded with a Tim Hortons donut breakfast. Thanks to the students’ incredible efforts, over $??,?????? was raised! We’re truly grateful for their support.
